Over the years we have grown Goldrush Courgette which is a yellow variety with a fine nutty flavour. Unfortunately it struggles to grow on our acid soil and unless you give it plenty of feed (in particular calcium nitrate) the leaves turn yellow and eventually they and the fruit become deformed. This looks similar to virus infection but can be controlled by feeding. Addition of lime would probably help to reduce the symptoms. Not wishing to spend valuable time trying to sort out the Goldrush problem I opted for another yellow variety called One Ball. (Someone thought I said Womble when I told them the variety’s name!) This is equally tasty and quite a talking point when handed over to someone with other veg. Definitely one for next year.
