Lupin Farm Classic Vehicle Gathering 2008

Well it is a Farm!

Lupin Farm classic gathering is my most favourite of classic vehicle gatherings. There is a real eclectic mix of anything that is of interest and it’s all done for charity. It isn’t just classic cars either.

Lupin farm is just off the A513 west of Alrewas, Staffordshire. England. Edwin Tipper, the owner, is a gentleman and a farmer and a good egg. Every year he organises this event and it just gets bigger and better! Should you get the chance: Shake the man’s hand.

The 2008 event (17th August) was the first Jacky and I have attended for some years and we were very pleased that we could make it. What we like about the gathering is the fact that all vehicles just park up next to each other and there appears an absence of snobbery but....

I was rather disappointed to see “club” stands which we hadn’t seen them before. MG and Bentley/Roller stood out amongst others. I feel this rather detracts from the easy, laid back feel of the gathering and, if I had my say I wouldn’t allow this to happen. I’d hate to see the gathering become just another classic show but then again, if the “club” stands were disallowed numbers attending may drop and charity would lose out.

There’s not only classic cars but agricultural, commercial and motorcycle classics; a little auto jumble, stationary engines, plant sale and a most interesting vintage TV and record player display. Trabants sit next to Rollers and both gather equal interest. My kind of gathering! Oh yes... there’s the piggies. Those above were born in the early hours of that day.

It’s well worth a visit, even if you don’t have anything to show. Just go!
