Whilst out foraging for edible fungi I couldn’t help photographing any interesting fungus I came across in and around my local area. I’ve managed to identify all except one which was photographed on Mallorca. I kind of came to the conclusion it was probably Omphalotus olearius. The description fits but it looks nothing like any of the photos in my guides. John Wright has positively identified it as such for me. Excellent photo too as it’s very rare in England. It’s also exceedingly poisonous and has been mistaken for chanterelles! I’ve not named the rest in case I’m wrong or someone should try to use the shots as a field guide and make a wrong identification! Just enjoy the photos, hopefully as much as I enjoyed taking them.
